Global Dream Lab for NYT Magazine

Project Overview

Created a speculative cover illustration for The New York Times Magazine based on the feature article "Global Dream Lab," which explored the work of researchers studying and documenting the vivid, collective psychological phenomena of pandemic-era dreams across the globe.

Creative Approach & Solution

The challenge was to capture the abstract, surreal, and deeply personal nature of dreaming while grounding it in scientific inquiry. My solution was to juxtapose clinical data collection against the uncharted human subconscious by utilizing an oceanographic metaphor—likening the researchers to a surface boat attempting to explore the deepest, undiscovered trenches of the sea.
